Aged Dependent Relative - Australia Visa Subclasses 116 & 836

 

  • Main applicant must be old enough to be granted an Australian old age pension in accordance with the Social Services Act 1991.  This is 65 years for all male applicants and on a sliding scale for females.
  • Main applicant must be sponsored by their Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen relative, or their spouse, who is over 18 years of age.
  • Sponsor must be a close relative, ie child, adopted child, parent, brother/sister, grandchild, uncle/aunt or nephew/niece.
  • An assurance of support (AOS) is required for this family category visa application.
  • Main applicant must have been financially dependent on their Australian relative for a reasonable period (normally 3 years).
